How Singapore 4D works
4D is the game every Singapore uncle and auntie knows. You pick any 4-digit number from 0000 to 9999, choose Big or Small, and wait for the draw every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at 6.30pm.
Each draw produces 23 winning numbers:
| Prize | How many numbers |
|---|---|
| 1st prize | 1 |
| 2nd prize | 1 |
| 3rd prize | 1 |
| Starter prizes | 10 |
| Consolation prizes | 10 |
Unlike TOTO, 4D is a fixed-odds game. There’s no jackpot pool to share: each prize pays a set amount for every S$1 you bet, no matter how many other people picked the same number. The minimum is S$1 per number (or per permutation).
Big vs Small: which one to buy?
“Big or Small?” is the first thing the auntie at the counter will ask you. The difference:
| Big | Small | |
|---|---|---|
| Wins on | All 23 numbers | 1st, 2nd and 3rd only |
| 1st prize per S$1 | S$2,000 | S$3,000 |
| Chance of any prize | ≈1 in 435 | 1 in 3,333 |
| Feels like | Steady, more ways to win | All-or-nothing |
Big is the “can win something more often” option, since the 10 Starter and 10 Consolation prizes also count. Small gives up those 20 smaller prizes in exchange for a fatter payout if you land the top 3, so it’s quite all-or-nothing leh. The 1st prize amounts above come from Singapore Pools’ official prize calculator. The 2nd, 3rd, Starter and Consolation amounts are also fixed per S$1; check Singapore Pools’ 4D prize table for the current figures before you bet.
Plenty of people buy both: S$1 Big and S$1 Small on the same number, so they still win something on a Starter or Consolation and get the bigger payout on the top 3.
Bet types: Ordinary, System Entry, iBet, 4D Roll and Quick Pick
Singapore Pools offers five ways to play:
- Ordinary: your 4 digits in that exact order. 1234 only wins if 1234 comes out.
- System Entry: bet on every permutation of your digits, at least S$1 per permutation. Any arrangement that hits pays the full prize.
- iBet: also covers every permutation in one bet, but your prize is divided by the number of permutations. Cheaper to cover all arrangements, smaller payout.
- 4D Roll: pick 3 digits plus one rolling digit “R”, which stands for 0 to 9. So 12R4 covers 1204, 1214, 1224 and so on, up to 1294.
- Quick Pick: the system picks 4 random digits for you.
How many permutations your number has depends on repeated digits:
| Your number | Example | Permutations |
|---|---|---|
| All 4 digits different | 1234 | 24 |
| One pair | 1688 | 12 |
| Two pairs | 6688 | 6 |
| Three the same | 9333 | 4 |
| All four the same | 8888 | 1 |
Worked examples in SGD
Let’s say your number is 1234.
- S$5 Big, Ordinary. 1234 comes out as 1st prize. You win 5 × S$2,000 = S$10,000.
- S$5 Small, Ordinary. Same result: 5 × S$3,000 = S$15,000, shiok sia. But if 1234 only came out as a Starter prize, the Small bet wins nothing while the Big bet still pays.
- System Entry, S$1 Big per permutation. 1234 has 24 permutations, so it costs S$24. If 4321 comes out 1st, you win the full S$2,000.
- iBet, S$1 Big. If 4321 comes out 1st, the S$2,000 prize is divided by 24 permutations, so you get about S$83.
See the trade-off? System Entry costs 24 times more but pays the full prize. iBet is cheap but heavily diluted. Neither one changes your odds per dollar; they just spread your money differently.
Durian tip: Got a number with repeated digits, like 6688? It only has 6 permutations, so a System Entry costs S$6 instead of S$24 for 1234. Same full S$2,000 per S$1 if any arrangement hits 1st. Covering every arrangement is much cheaper lah.
4D odds in plain numbers
There are 10,000 possible numbers, so:
- 1st prize: 1 in 10,000 for each number you play.
- Any Big prize: 23 winning numbers out of 10,000, so about 1 in 435.
- Any Small prize: 3 out of 10,000, so 1 in 3,333.
- System Entry on 1234 (24 permutations): 24 chances in 10,000 of hitting 1st, about 1 in 417, for S$24.
These are our own calculations from the format. Every draw is random, and a number that “hasn’t come out for a long time” has exactly the same 1 in 10,000 chance as any other.
How to play 4D online from Singapore
Officially, Singapore Pools sells 4D at its outlets and through its online betting site for players aged 21 and above.
Among the online casinos we review, UWIN33 is the only one with a 4D tab on its Singapore site: a 4D Lottery section on the SGD site’s menu. New players get SGD 10 free credit for verifying their account, and deposits start from SGD 30 by PayNow, FAST or crypto. One thing to know: 4D Lottery bets don’t count towards UWIN33’s welcome-bonus turnover, so use the bonus on slots and bet 4D with your own cash. Our 4D online Singapore page goes through it step by step.
Maxim88 doesn’t have 4D for Singapore, but its Lottery tab has QQKeno, and Evolution’s Mega Ball live show is there too. Plus an instant rebate of up to 1% with no turnover, a nice extra for regular players.

How people pick 4D numbers
Car plates, IC numbers, house numbers, the number of the bus you missed this morning, a dream about your late grandfather: everybody got their own way. Some casino sites even run a “lucky number of the day”. It’s fun, but it’s not a prediction. Every number from 0000 to 9999 has the same 1 in 10,000 chance in every draw.
Because 4D pays fixed prizes, picking a “popular” number like 8888 doesn’t reduce your payout the way it does in TOTO. Your S$1 Big still pays S$2,000 if it hits 1st. Want to understand how randomness works in games? Our RTP and RNG guide explains it simply.
