What a fishing game is (and why Pinoys love it)
If you’ve ever dropped tokens into the fish-shooting machines at a mall arcade, you already know the basic idea. A fishing game (also called fish shooting or fish hunter) is an arcade shooter built for casinos. You sit at an underwater table with up to four seats, fish swim across the screen, and you fire bullets at them from your cannon. Catch a fish and you win your shot times that fish’s multiplier. Simple lang, pero nakaka-hook.
Here’s the part every beginner needs to hear first: every bullet is a bet. It’s not a game where you pay once and shoot for free. Each shot costs whatever your cannon is set to, whether it hits or misses. A ₱5 cannon means ₱5 per bullet, ₱5 per bullet, ₱5 per bullet, as fast as you can tap.
Why is it so big in the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia?
- It feels like skill, even though it isn’t. You aim, you choose targets, you time your shots. That makes it more interactive than pressing spin on a slot.
- It’s social. Other players shoot at the same fish. When someone lands the boss, the whole table sees the coins fly.
- JILI made it mainstream. The studio behind Super Ace and Money Coming also makes some of the most-played fishing titles in the region, and they sit in the same lobbies Pinoys already use.
- Small bets, big moments. You can play on a low cannon and still hit a fish worth hundreds of times your shot.
Just don’t mistake it for a test of aim. Under the cartoon sharks, it runs on the same math as every other casino game, and we’ll do that math in pesos below.
Cannon level: your bet per shot
The cannon level (some games call it gun level, bullet value or bet) sets how much each shot costs. Raise it and every bullet costs more, and every catch pays more, in the same proportion. A fish worth 20x pays ₱20 on a ₱1 shot and ₱200 on a ₱10 shot. The fish’s value never changes; only your stake does.
Most fishing games also split players into rooms or tables by stake. A beginner room has a low minimum shot, higher rooms raise the minimum and the maximum. Every title sets its own ranges, and the casino lobby shows them before you sit down, so check the room’s min and max shot rather than guessing.
Here’s what the cannon level really means for your wallet. The cost of a session is simply bet per shot × number of shots:
| Bet per shot | 100 shots | 300 shots | 1,000 shots |
|---|---|---|---|
| ₱1 | ₱100 | ₱300 | ₱1,000 |
| ₱2 | ₱200 | ₱600 | ₱2,000 |
| ₱5 | ₱500 | ₱1,500 | ₱5,000 |
| ₱10 | ₱1,000 | ₱3,000 | ₱10,000 |
| ₱20 | ₱2,000 | ₱6,000 | ₱20,000 |
| ₱50 | ₱5,000 | ₱15,000 | ₱50,000 |
That’s your turnover: the total you put through the game, not what you lose. Catches pay some of it back as you go. But the table shows why players run out of balance faster in fishing than they expect. Three hundred shots don’t take long when you’re tapping away at a crowd of small fish.
A simple rule: pick a cannon level where 300 shots fit inside your session budget. With ₱1,500 to play, that’s ₱5 a shot. With ₱600, it’s ₱2. Then you have room for the normal ups and downs without one cold streak ending your night.
Durian tip: Raising the cannon after a loss to “bawi” is the fishing-game version of chasing. The fish don’t get easier to catch because your bullet costs more. Only your losses get bigger.
Fish multipliers, bosses and special weapons
Every fish on the table carries a multiplier, and that number is your payout if you catch it. The general pattern is the same in almost every title:
- Small fish swim in schools, have low multipliers and get caught often. They keep your balance ticking along.
- Medium and big fish (turtles, sharks, whales, crocodiles) pay more and take more bullets on average.
- Bosses are the headline: a dragon, a giant octopus, a golden crocodile. They pay the biggest multipliers, often with a bonus wheel on top, and they’re the hardest to bring down.
Most titles also hand out special weapons when you catch certain fish or fill a power meter. Depending on the game you’ll see bombs that blow up everything in an area, lasers that cut a line across the screen, drills that bounce around the table, and chain lightning that links several fish at once. These feel like free extra shots, and in a sense they are, but their payouts are part of the game’s built-in return, not a gift on top of it.
Here’s what JILI says about a few of its own titles on its game pages:
| JILI title | What stands out | Max win listed by JILI |
|---|---|---|
| Royal Fishing | Billed as an entry-level fishing game; shots charge an energy meter for a full-screen attack; the Money Dragon King boss can trigger a multiplier wheel | Wheel up to 350x |
| Jackpot Fishing | High-value fish can land a random extra 5x multiplier when caught; target lock built in | Not listed |
| All-Star Fishing | All-Stars feature, a Naga boss and a bonus wheel | 1,200x |
| Dinosaur Tycoon | Flying Dragon Wheel | 1,500x |
| Boom Legend | Jackpot Crocodile, Furious Octopus and a Cerberus Wheel | 1,400x |
Other JILI fishing games you’ll find in PH lobbies include Mega Fishing, Happy Fishing, Dragon Fortune and Ocean King Jackpot, and Megapari’s lobby adds titles like Bombing Fishing and Thorn Forest. Each one changes the fish, the weapons and the boss, but the money logic doesn’t change: bigger multiplier, lower chance per bullet.
Treat a max win like a slot’s max win: the ceiling, not the plan. A 1,500x catch on a ₱5 shot is ₱7,500, but most of your session will be small fish paying a few times your shot.
How fishing games pay: hit chance and RTP
This is the part the cartoon graphics hide. When your bullet touches a fish, the game doesn’t check how “damaged” the fish is or how good your aim was. It decides whether that shot catches the fish, using a chance tied to the fish’s value. A low-multiplier fish has a high chance per shot. A boss worth hundreds of times your bet has a small one.
The game is tuned so that, over millions of shots, it pays back a set share of everything wagered. That share is the RTP (return to player), exactly like a slot. If a title’s info screen says 96%, then on average it returns ₱96 for every ₱100 fired, and the other ₱4 is the house edge. Our RTP and RNG guide explains the idea in more detail.
A few things follow from that:
- Aim and timing don’t beat the math. You can choose targets and pace yourself, and that changes how your session feels. It doesn’t change the return built into each bullet.
- There’s no “almost dead” fish. If you’ve shot a shark 40 times, the 41st shot has the same chance as the first. Another player who catches it after you didn’t steal your win; your bullets were already settled, one by one.
- There’s no hot table or best time to play. Rooms don’t heat up, and late-night tables don’t pay better. Ignore anyone selling a pattern.
- Volatility still matters. Chasing bosses is high volatility: long dry spells, then a big hit. Farming small fish is lower volatility: frequent small catches, slower swings. Our slot volatility guide covers the same idea for slots.
We don’t publish RTP figures for fishing titles because JILI’s own game pages don’t list them. Before you play, open the game’s info, rules or help screen. If the RTP is shown there, that’s the number that applies to the version you’re playing.
Worked example: a 300-shot session in pesos
Let’s put real numbers on it. You sit down in a low room with your cannon at ₱5 a shot and plan 300 shots.
- Turnover: 300 × ₱5 = ₱1,500.
- If the info screen shows 96% RTP, the long-run return on that ₱1,500 is ₱1,440, so the expected cost is ₱60 (₱1,500 × 4%).
- What actually happens tonight can be very different. You might catch a boss and walk away with ₱3,000, or hit nothing but small fish and finish at ₱900. The ₱60 is the average over many sessions, not a prediction for this one.
Now change one thing at a time and watch the bill:
| Setup | Turnover | Expected cost at 96% RTP | Expected cost at 94% RTP |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 shots at ₱1 | ₱300 | ₱12 | ₱18 |
| 300 shots at ₱5 | ₱1,500 | ₱60 | ₱90 |
| 300 shots at ₱20 | ₱6,000 | ₱240 | ₱360 |
| 1,000 shots at ₱5 | ₱5,000 | ₱200 | ₱300 |
| 1,000 shots at ₱50 | ₱50,000 | ₱2,000 | ₱3,000 |
(The 96% and 94% columns are examples to show how RTP changes the bill, not figures for any specific title. Use the RTP on your game’s info screen.)
Two lessons jump out:
- Shots and cannon level drive the cost, not your starting balance. Catches go back into your balance and get fired again, so a ₱1,500 balance can easily turn into ₱5,000 of turnover. The cost follows the turnover.
- The RTP gap is real money at higher stakes. On ₱50,000 of shots, two points of RTP is ₱1,000. That’s why it’s worth checking the info screen before you settle on a favorite.
Durian tip: Decide your session in shots, not in pesos. “300 shots at ₱5” is a plan you can track on screen. “Until my ₱1,500 runs out” usually turns into topping up for “isa pang boss”.
Auto-fire and lock-target: why they burn budgets fast
Almost every fishing game has two convenience buttons:
- Auto-fire keeps shooting until you turn it off, as fast as the game allows.
- Lock-target (or auto-lock) fixes your cannon on one fish, usually a big one, and keeps firing at it as it swims across the table.
Both are handy. Neither changes your odds. What they change is how many bets you place per minute, and that drives your cost. Tapping by hand has natural pauses; auto-fire removes every one. A session you meant to last 300 shots can hit 1,000 before you look up, and at ₱10 a shot that’s ₱10,000 of turnover instead of ₱3,000.
Lock-target has its own trap. Watching bullet after bullet hit a boss feels like progress, but each shot has the same small chance and there’s no hidden damage bar. If the boss swims off the screen, the bullets you spent on it are simply gone.
How to set up a fishing session in 7 steps
- Set a session budget before you open the game, and only cash-in what fits it.
- Pick your shot budget. Divide the session budget by 300 to get your cannon level. ₱1,500 → ₱5, ₱3,000 → ₱10.
- Choose a room whose minimum shot is at or below that level.
- Check the info screen for the RTP and the fish paytable, so you know what each fish pays.
- Fire by hand at first. Get a feel for the pace and the paytable before you touch auto-fire.
- Use lock-target on purpose, not by habit. Decide in advance how many shots you’ll spend on a boss (say 30), then stop, catch or no catch.
- Stop at your limit, win or lose. If you’re up, cash out part of it. If you’ve used your shots, log off. The fish will still be there tomorrow.
Fishing games and casino bonuses
Can you clear a welcome bonus by shooting fish? Sometimes, and it depends entirely on the casino’s terms. Many casinos lump fishing in with slots; others leave it out or count it at a lower rate. Here’s what the casinos we review for the Philippines actually say:
- BK8 is the clearest. Its 100% Welcome Bonus has a slots version that explicitly covers slots, fishing, fast games and lottery: 100% up to ₱5,000, from a ₱300 transfer, at 12x deposit + bonus within 7 days. Two things to know: the bigger 288% bonus is limited to slots from Pragmatic Play, GoldenBay, Relax Gaming, Yggdrasil and Evoplay, so it isn’t a fishing bonus; and BK8’s instant rebate pays on slots, live casino and sports, but not on fishing.
- BC.Game doesn’t use a classic rollover. Its bonus sits in a locked balance and unlocks as cash while you bet on eligible non-PvP games, and each game has its own wager contribution. Fishing isn’t named in the terms we read, so check the Wager Contribution page in the footer before you count on fishing to unlock it.
- Megapari’s casino package runs at 35x the bonus within 30 days, with a ₱350 max bet. The terms we read say MegaGames count double, but they don’t mention fishing. Ask live chat whether your fishing title counts before you play the package on it.
Worked example: BK8’s 100% bonus on fishing
You cash-in ₱1,000, transfer it to an eligible wallet with the promo code, and get a ₱1,000 bonus.
- Turnover needed: 12 × (₱1,000 + ₱1,000) = ₱24,000, within 7 days.
- That’s about ₱3,430 of shots a day (₱24,000 ÷ 7).
- At ₱5 a shot, it’s 4,800 shots in total, or roughly 690 a day.
- At ₱10 a shot, it’s 2,400 shots, about 343 a day.
Doable for a regular fishing player at a sensible cannon level. Just remember BK8’s terms: promos can’t be combined, and you can’t top up the same provider wallet until the turnover is done. Our bonus terms guide walks through clauses like these one by one, and the wagering guide shows how to track turnover as you go.
Fishing lobbies at our PH casinos
Three of the casinos we review for the Philippines carry fishing games, and all three made our fishing casinos list. Here’s what we found in each lobby when we tested:
| Casino | Fishing lobby | Titles we saw | Fishing and the bonus |
|---|---|---|---|
| BK8 | 8 fishing studios: JILI, Fa Chai, JDB, Spadegaming, V-Power, Dragoon Soft, CQ9, YesGetRich | All-Star Fishing, Royal Fishing, Dinosaur Tycoon II | Included in the 100% Welcome (slots) at 12x D+B; excluded from the instant rebate |
| BC.Game | A Fishing tab with 21 games, from JILI and Spadegaming | Ocean King Jackpot, Jackpot Fishing, Mega Fishing | Unlock rate depends on each game’s wager contribution |
| Megapari | A dedicated Hunting and Fishing lobby; JILI alone has 265 titles on the site | Bombing Fishing, Mega Fishing, Happy Fishing, All-Star Fishing, Ocean King Jackpot, Thorn Forest | Not covered in the terms we read; ask chat |
Our reviews of OKBet, Betwinner and Winna don’t list a fishing lobby. OKBet has an Arcade tab, but we didn’t catalog what’s in it, and Winna doesn’t carry JILI at all. If fishing is your main game, stick with the three above.
How to pick your first fishing game
Start with JILI. It’s the studio Pinoy players know best, its fishing games sit in every lobby above, and the controls are the same from one title to the next. Our JILI provider page covers the studio, and our JILI casinos list shows where its games run in the Philippines.
Then match the game to how you like to play:
- New to fishing? Try Royal Fishing, which JILI bills as an entry-level fishing game. The energy meter and full-screen attack teach you the rhythm without a complicated weapon system.
- Like steady action? Spend most of your shots on small and medium fish. Catches come often.
- Here for the big moment? Boss-heavy games with high listed max wins, like Dinosaur Tycoon (1,500x) and Boom Legend (1,400x), are the high-volatility end. Lower the cannon and budget more shots, because dry spells are part of the deal.
- Want variety? Try other studios in BK8’s lobby (Fa Chai, JDB, Spadegaming, CQ9). Each one has its own fish, weapons and bosses.
Whatever you pick, read the paytable on the info screen first: what every fish pays, what each weapon does and, where shown, the RTP. Two minutes there beats two hundred shots of guessing.
Where to play fishing games in the Philippines
Of the casinos we review for Pinoy players, these three give fishing fans the most to shoot at:
- BK8: the best all-round pick for fishing. 8 fishing studios led by JILI, a peso account, and the only welcome offer in our PH line-up that names fishing outright: 100% up to ₱5,000 at 12x deposit + bonus, from ₱300. That’s 24x on the bonus alone, the lowest in our low-wagering list. Withdrawals are processed within 25 minutes, per BK8’s FAQ.
- Megapari: the biggest overall lobby, with 172 studios, 265 JILI titles and a dedicated Hunting and Fishing section. The casino package is ₱108,000 + 150 free spins over two deposits at 35x the bonus, within 30 days, from ₱350. Confirm with chat that your fishing title counts before you lean on the bonus.
- BC.Game: a peso wallet, a Fishing tab with 21 games from JILI and Spadegaming, and up to 500% over your first four deposits from ₱200. The bonus unlocks as real cash while you play and never expires, so think of it as extra rakeback on your shots.
To fund your account: BK8 and BC.Game list GCash and Maya, but since the BSP’s August 2025 order e-wallets don’t link to gambling sites directly, so wallet money usually goes in via QR Ph or bank transfer; your live options show in the cashier after you log in. You can also buy USDT in GCrypto and send it to BK8, BC.Game or Megapari on the same network as the casino’s deposit address. Compare every offer on our Philippine bonuses page.
21+ only: set your shot budget before the first bullet, treat fishing as paid entertainment, and visit our responsible gambling page if it stops being fun.
