What a rebate is, in one line
A rebate is a slice of every bet you place, paid back whether the bet won or lost. The casino takes your turnover (the total wagered on valid bets), multiplies it by a percentage, and credits the result. No “288%” headline, just a small number that keeps paying for as long as you play.
Southeast Asian casinos built their loyalty around that small number because their best customers play live baccarat and high-volume slots, games where a welcome bonus either doesn’t apply or clears slowly. A rebate works on every game, every day, and at most of the casinos we review it arrives as cash with no turnover attached.
This guide covers the formula, the three payout rhythms, rebate versus welcome bonus, VIP tiers, what pauses a rebate, and the real rates at our casinos. For the bonus side, our bonus terms guide and wagering guide cover the clauses.
The formula: rate × turnover
Every rebate, whatever the casino calls it, is the same calculation:
Rebate = rebate rate × valid turnover
Three things to pin down before you can run it:
- The rate for your game type. Slots, live casino, sports and fishing usually carry different percentages. At BK8, regular members get 0.5% on slots, 0.3% on live baccarat and 0.4% on esports.
- The rate for your tier. The same game pays more at higher VIP levels. me88’s slot rebate runs from 0.4% at Jade to 0.9% at the top, and its live baccarat rebate from 0.3% to 1.2%.
- What counts as valid turnover. Real-money bets that settle normally. Bonus-funded bets, void bets and excluded games earn nothing, and some casinos leave whole categories out: BK8’s instant rebate doesn’t cover fishing.
Worked example: a slots player
Say you spin at US$1 a spin, about 500 spins in a session, five sessions a week. Here’s how it adds up:
| Period | Turnover | At 0.5% | At 0.9% | At 1.5% |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One session (500 spins × US$1) | US$500 | US$2.50 | US$4.50 | US$7.50 |
| One week (5 sessions) | US$2,500 | US$12.50 | US$22.50 | US$37.50 |
| One month (4 weeks) | US$10,000 | US$50 | US$90 | US$150 |
The 0.5% column is a typical starter slot rate (BK8 regular, MD88 Bronze, Maxim88’s lower bound), 0.9% is me88’s top slot rate, and 1.5% is what BK8 pays Diamond VIPs on slots. The turnover is the same in every column; only the tier changes the cheque.
Worked example: a live baccarat player
Live tables turn over money faster. At US$25 a hand and roughly 60 hands an hour, a three-hour session is US$4,500 of turnover:
- At a 0.3% live rebate (BK8 regular, me88 Jade, Maxim88’s lower bound): US$4,500 × 0.003 = US$13.50.
- At 0.8% (Maxim88’s top live rate, GemBet’s Imperial Jade live rate): US$4,500 × 0.008 = US$36.
For context, Banker bets carry a house edge of about 1.06%, so the expected cost of that session is around US$47.70. A 0.3% rebate hands back roughly 28% of it, and a 0.8% rebate about 75%. That’s why casinos save the top live rates for tiers with six- or seven-figure monthly deposit targets: the closer the rebate gets to the house edge, the thinner the casino’s margin on you.
Durian tip: Track your own turnover for a week before you judge a rebate. Most players underestimate it by half, and the rebate is only worth switching casinos for once you know your real number.
Instant, daily and weekly: the three rhythms
The rate tells you how much; the rhythm tells you when, and whether you need to do anything.
| Rhythm | How it works | Who does it this way |
|---|---|---|
| Instant / hourly | Calculated continuously or every hour, claimed from your profile whenever you like | me88 (generated hourly, claim any time), Maxim88 (syncs hourly, claim from ≈ US$0.24), BK8 (hourly, ≈ US$0.16 minimum per category), AW8 (claim every hour), GOD55 (credited in real time), Winna (rakeback every 7 minutes) |
| Daily | Totalled once a day and credited automatically | MD88 (paid before 3am, ≈ US$0.24 minimum, withdrawable straight away), DK88 (daily rebate up to 1.5% of turnover), GemBet’s daily portion (5 PM local time) |
| Weekly, loss-based | A percentage of net losses for the week, not turnover | UWIN33 (5% weekly cashback, 10x), GOD55 (weekly recovery, 10x), Maxim88 (weekly cashback, 10x), BK8 (weekly rescue), MD88 (weekly rescue, 10x) |
Two practical differences:
- Instant rebates need a click. If a casino says “claimable any time”, the money sits in a rebate balance until you claim it, so claim before you log out.
- Weekly cashback isn’t a rebate. It’s paid on what you lost, not what you bet, and it usually carries real wagering: UWIN33’s 5% weekly cashback, GOD55’s weekly recovery bonus and Maxim88’s weekly cashback all need 10x. Treat it as a bonus and read its terms.
Rebate vs welcome bonus: why a rebate has no turnover
A welcome bonus is money the casino gives you before you bet. If it were withdrawable on the spot, people would deposit, collect and leave, so the casino attaches a wagering requirement and a list of rules. A rebate is paid after the bets, on turnover that already happened. There’s nothing left to protect, which is why me88, Maxim88, BK8, DK88, GemBet and MD88 all pay their turnover rebates with no turnover of their own. (AW8 is the mild exception: its instant rebate needs 1x.)
Put the two side by side on the same US$100 deposit:
| 100% welcome bonus, 25x deposit + bonus | 0.5% rebate, no bonus | |
|---|---|---|
| Money added up front | US$100 bonus | Nothing |
| Bets required | (US$100 + US$100) × 25 = US$5,000 | None required |
| Expected cost of US$5,000 of bets at 96% RTP | US$5,000 × 4% = US$200 | Same US$200 if you choose to bet that much |
| What you get back | A US$100 bonus you’ve now paid US$200 (on average) to unlock | US$25 cash, paid as you go |
| Games | Usually slots only, with a max bet and an expiry | Every game, at the rate for that game |
| Can you withdraw mid-way? | Usually forfeits the bonus | Yes, any time |
The bonus gives you US$200 to play with instead of US$100, so more spins and a better shot at a big session. The rebate is smaller but it’s cash, it works on live tables, and it never asks you to bet a sum you weren’t going to bet anyway.
- Prefer the rebate if you play live casino (most welcomes exclude it), if you’d rather withdraw freely, or if you bet enough that 0.5% to 1% of your turnover is real money.
- Prefer the welcome bonus if you’re depositing a small amount once, mainly on slots, and want the longest possible session for it. Then switch to the rebate once it’s cleared.
VIP tiers: how the rate goes up
Almost every casino here ties the rebate rate to a VIP tier, and almost every tier is earned by deposits within a calendar month. The published entry points:
| Casino | Tiers | First upgrade | What rises with the tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| GOD55 | 7, Normal to Diamond | Bronze at ≈ US$4,890 a month | Slot rebate 0.4% (Normal) to 1.0% (Platinum), weekly recovery cap, birthday bonus |
| me88 | 6, Jade to Royal | Rose Gold at ≈ US$23,400 a month | Slot rebate 0.4% to 0.9%, live baccarat 0.3% to 1.2%, daily withdrawal limit, weekly rescue |
| Maxim88 | 5, Classic to Crockford | Classic at ≈ US$12,200 a month | Rebates up to 1% on slots and sports, daily withdrawal limit, upgrade bonus |
| BK8 | 5, Bronze to Diamond | Bronze at ≈ US$6,390 a month | Rebate up to 0.5% (Bronze, Silver), 0.8% (Gold, Platinum), 1.5% (Diamond) |
| MD88 | 6, Bronze to Diamond King | Silver at ≈ US$36,700 a month | Slot rebate 0.50% (Bronze) to 0.90% (Diamond King), daily withdrawal limit |
| DK88 | 9, Dasher to Ruby | Iron at ≈ US$195 a month | Every tier gets the daily rebate; Diamond and above add a personal manager |
| AW8 | 7, Normal to Ruby | Bronze at ≈ US$7,340 a month | Slot rebate 0.4% (Regular) to 1.0% (Ruby), birthday bonus, withdrawal limit |
| Winna | Bronze to Nebula, 5 levels each | Bronze 1 at US$1,000 total wagered | Monthly, weekly and quarterly bonuses, lossback up to 25% from Platinum |
| GemBet | Pearl to Imperial Jade | Not published in our global review | Rebates from 0.35% slots / 0.40% sports / 0.10% live to 1.00% / 1.10% / 0.80% |
Three patterns worth knowing:
- Entry tiers already pay. You don’t need a tier to earn a rebate at GOD55 (Normal gets 0.4% on slots), MD88 (Bronze from your first deposit, 0.50%), BK8 (regular members, 0.5%) or me88 (Jade, 0.4% slots). The ladder improves the rate; it doesn’t gate it.
- Deposit targets are steep above the first rung. GOD55 wants ≈ US$12,200 a month for Silver, Maxim88 ≈ US$36,700 for Silver, me88 ≈ US$78,100 for Ruby. Those are high-roller numbers. Pick a casino for its entry rate, not for a tier you won’t reach.
- Keeping a tier has rules too. GOD55’s Silver and above, Maxim88’s higher tiers and me88’s Ruby and up all have three-month targets. me88’s Jade and Rose Gold, Maxim88’s Classic and every GemBet tier are permanent once reached.
Winna and BC.Game run the crypto version. Winna’s level depends only on total amount wagered (Bronze 1 at US$1,000, Silver 1 at US$20,000, Gold 1 at US$100,000), with no monthly targets to keep up; BC.Game’s levels run on XP from eligible bets through Beginner, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Eternal, and every level-up pays a bonus. Megapari’s Casino Cashback programme has 8 levels from Copper, climbed by playing; the cashback rates aren’t published in our review, so check the loyalty page once you’re logged in.
What pauses or shrinks a rebate
The rate is the easy part. These are the clauses that quietly turn a rebate off:
- An active bonus. GOD55 allows one bonus at a time and pauses daily rebates until the bonus turnover is done. GemBet’s GemRebates pause while a bonus is active. If you take a welcome bonus at either, you’ve opted out of the rebate for the duration, so decide which you want first.
- Bonus-funded bets. Rebates are calculated on real-money valid bets. Spins paid for with bonus balance don’t count, which is another reason the two rarely stack.
- Excluded products. BK8’s instant rebate covers slots, live baccarat and esports but not fishing. Maxim88 quotes rates for slots, live baccarat and roulette, and football; if a game isn’t on the list, assume it earns nothing until support confirms.
- Minimum claims. BK8 needs ≈ US$0.16 per category before a claim, Maxim88 ≈ US$0.24, MD88 ≈ US$0.24. Small, but a low-stakes session can fall under the line and roll into the next one.
- Caps. The casinos here mostly advertise no cap (me88, Maxim88, BK8, GemBet, AW8’s instant rebate), which is unusual and worth a lot to a heavy player. Loss-based cashback is capped: UWIN33’s 5% weekly cashback tops out at ≈ US$415, Maxim88’s weekly cashback at ≈ US$2,170.
Durian tip: Before you claim any reload or welcome bonus at a casino that pays you a rebate, ask live chat one question: “Does my rebate keep paying while this bonus is active?” Screenshot the answer.
The rebate table: real rates at our casinos
Every rate below is the one printed in our review of that casino. “Up to” means the top tier; the first figure is what a new member gets.

| Winna | Instant rakeback | Rate not published in our review | Every 7 minutes, from your first bet | Credited to balance |
Casinos not in the table: UWIN33 has no turnover rebate, but pays 5% weekly cashback on net losses (from ≈ US$49, up to ≈ US$415, 10x) plus the Malaysia-only Millions Subsidy; Megapari pays Casino Cashback by level and 3% sports cashback on weekly bets; BC.Game pays its welcome package as rakeback that unlocks as you wager, plus daily, weekly and monthly cashback for all players.
Reading the table for your game
- Live baccarat first: me88 (0.3% to 1.2%) and Maxim88 (0.3% to 0.8%) publish the highest live rates. Our live casino guide covers which tables to pick.
- Slots first: BK8 (0.5% to 1.5%) and DK88 (up to 1.5%) have the highest ceilings; me88 and Maxim88 pay more at the entry rung (0.4% and 0.5%).
- Crypto first: GemBet’s rebates work on its crypto cashier too, and Winna’s rakeback is built for coin players. Our crypto hub compares both.
How to get the most from a rebate, step by step
- Pick the casino for the rate on your main game, at the tier you’ll actually be in, not the “up to” figure.
- Decide: bonus or rebate first. If you take a welcome bonus at GOD55 or GemBet, the rebate waits. Clear the bonus, then play on the rebate.
- Deposit and verify early. Rebate claims and withdrawals go faster once ID verification is done, and VIP upgrades at Maxim88 require it.
- Play valid bets on covered games. Check the excluded list once (fishing at BK8, for example) so your turnover counts.
- Claim on your rhythm. Hourly claimers (me88, Maxim88, BK8, AW8): claim before you log out. Daily payers (MD88, DK88, GemBet’s daily portion): check the next morning.
- Withdraw the rebate, or ring-fence it. It’s cash. Moving it out of the playing balance is the only way a rebate ever becomes a net gain rather than extra turnover.
- Watch the monthly calendar. Tiers are set by calendar-month deposits (DK88 recalculates between the 1st and 5th), so know the date if you’re close to a rung.
- Keep records. A weekly screenshot of the rebate page settles any dispute with support quickly.
Where to play for rebates
- me88: the highest published rate. The unlimited instant cash rebate of up to 1.2% covers sports, live casino, slots and fishing, is generated every hour, and has no cap and no turnover. Slots pay 0.4% to 0.9% and live baccarat 0.3% to 1.2% by tier, with Jade and Rose Gold status kept for life. If you want a welcome first, the 288% bonus up to ≈ US$2,250 runs at 35x deposit + bonus.
- Maxim88: the live-casino rebate. Up to 1% instant cash rebate, synced every hour, claimable from ≈ US$0.24, with no turnover and no cap; slots 0.5% to 1.0%, live baccarat and roulette 0.3% to 0.8%. The exclusive Evolution baccarat table and the weekly Evolution Lucky Draw sit on top, and the 288% slots and fishing welcome (deposit ≈ US$24, play with ≈ US$95, 28x deposit + bonus) is there if you want it.
- BK8: the slots ceiling. The Instant Unlimited Rebate pays regular members 0.5% on slots, 0.3% on live baccarat and 0.4% on esports, rising to 1.5% on slots for Diamond, calculated hourly with no turnover and no cap. Pair it with the 100% welcome up to ≈ US$80 at 12x deposit + bonus, one of the lowest wagering welcomes we list.
For a rebate you can withdraw the same day, MD88’s daily cash rebate of up to 1% (paid before 3am) and DK88’s wager-free daily rebate of up to 1.5% are the other two to look at. Every current welcome offer is on our bonuses page.
A rebate returns a slice of what you bet; it never turns the house edge in your favour, so set a budget, play for entertainment, and if it stops being fun, our responsible gambling page has help. 21+ only.
